If I were truly living my dream, I would be a soap opera actress on “The Young and the Restless.” I always loved getting caught up in a fantasy world full of drama. Although I never had the chance or ambition to be a soap actress, I still have a dreamy life!
I am a middle school journalism teacher at McAuliffe International School in Denver, Colorado. Yes, I said middle school. It is an age group most people try to avoid, but I happen to think preteens are pretty amusing. They have their difficult moments, but I feel honored to be in a position to help guide them through those tough times.
I have taught school for 15 years, with taking seven years off in the middle to have children and be a stay-at-home mom. I taught fifth grade for five years, third grade for four years and all middle school grades (sixth-eighth) for the past six years. I’ve been very lucky to love all of my jobs and the majority of my students.
I have always worked with children in some capacity. After college I spent three years teaching children’s ski school in Breckenridge, Colorado. It was such a wonderful experience and even led to meeting my husband!
I am currently taking classes to earn a Masters of Journalism and Mass Communication from Kent State University. This new adventure has been very exciting and I can’t wait to see where this takes me.
I may not have become a soap star, but I am living the dream!
